Dorothy was born February 4, 1925 to Ernest and Lydia (Boepple) Kaiser near Marshall and passed away January 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She started school at Red Starr, then attended Hayward and moved to Covington in the 6th grade, graduating in 1943. She had fond memories of playing the saxophone in the Covington band and loved being in the Tri-State Festivals. That began a lifetime-love of the big band music.
Dorothy started working at the First State Bank in Covington in 1945 as a bookkeeper and teller, retiring after 40 years. She married Roy Hyde on February 24, 1946 and they were blessed with their precious son, Gary Lee Hyde.
Her husband Roy passed away in 1980 and she married Vaughn Murphy, whom she had known from grade school days, in 1985. They enjoyed many years of square dancing and traveling before he passed away in 2008.
Dorothy received Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age and she lived her whole life praying and devoted to her church and community. She was known for her deep faith and she was the oldest living member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she had been a very beloved Sunday School Teacher. She volunteered at the Tri-County Senior Citizens for many years enjoying the fellowship with all of the people. A lot of people called her “Aunt Dorothy” and if you knew her you felt so loved by her.
She is survived by her niece Eileen Olmstead; nephews, Jerald (Sue) Wyssman, Max (Katie) Kaiser, Mike (Terry) Kaiser; great-nephews, Neal (Carla) Olmstead, Norman (Lori) Olmstead, John (Amber) Wyssman; great-nieces, Karen (Brian) Durham, Diedra (Patrick) Carter, Stacie Kaiser, Traci (John) Kaiser-Gordon, Bonnie (Kevin) Kaiser-Gambill, Cari (Justin) McCartney, Calli (Trent) Troxell; step-son, Michael (Carmen) Murphy; step-grandchildren, Paul (Sammi) Carby, Greg, Rubi, Salvador, Juvenal Sanchez; great-granddaughter, Cate Carby; and many great-great nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death were her parents; son, Gary Lee Hyde; both husbands, Roy Hyde and Vaughn Murphy; sister, Mary Wyssman; brother, Alfred Kaiser; step-daughter, Carol Carby,; and great niece, Kay Lynn Wyssman.
