Vera Moulton

February 26, 1926 — March 18, 2019

On March 18, 2019, Vera Jo Moulton escaped her earthly bounds to enter into the open arms of Jesus.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm, Monday, March 25, 2019 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carrell Still officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 24th at the funeral home.

Vera was born on February 26, 1926 to George and Willa (Bradney) Tapp in Enid, Ok. Because of her dad’s work, her childhood was spent in Texas, Colorado, and Utah, finally settling in Enid. She graduated from Enid High School in 1944 and married Donald W. Moulton that same year. He was in the Army, so they moved to Massachusetts and later to Maine. They moved back to Enid in 1946. Their first daughter was born and they moved to Kremlin, Ok where she opened and operated a café. She baked all of the pastries and did the cooking to feed the hungry farmers in the area. Some of the fresh vegetables were grown lovingly in her huge garden.

In 1954 with two daughters, she and daddy moved back to Enid. Several years later they opened and operated a clothes cleaning business. Vera decided to take night classes at Enid Business College then started her career as a “bookkeeper/secretary” in several local lumber yards, eventually retiring from J. J. Cabinet Shop in 1985. Following her retirement, she kept the financial records for Davis Park Christian Church where she was an active member and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She and daddy became members of Willow Road Christian Church in 2009. None of her health problems kept her from serving her God and church. Until two years ago, she was sending birthday cards to church members and helped fold the church monthly newsletters. In addition to her church activities, she was also a member of the American Business Women for 35 years where she held the offices of President, secretary/treasurer, and chairperson of many committees.

Vera was an excellent seamstress. She was always making a dress or pantsuit for her mom and daughters; a skill she passed to her own daughters by patiently teaching them to create their own wardrobe. She never gave up growing her own vegetables and would can and preserve them. She made delicious jellies and jams. Vera had a love for crocheting which resulted in many baby outfits, sweaters and blankets.

Momma had an inner peace that came from knowing God is in control. Her patience, giving spirit and faith has been a continual lesson for her family and friends.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents; husband Don Moulton; and two brothers. She is survived by three daughters, Geannette Graham; Wynona Quirey and husband Mick; Donita Soles and husband Daniel; eight grandsons; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister and one brother.

We will miss your presence in our lives Momma and the Christian example you set for us. We know you are resting now and that someday we will see each other again in a glorious new home.

Memorial contributions in Vera’s name may be made to Willow Road Christian Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
