Maribel Moore

December 9, 1921 — April 17, 2019

Celebration of Life Service for Maribel Baker Moore, age 97, of Enid will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Central Christian Church with Rev. Tom Stanley, Rev. Don Johnson and nephew, Edward Tabeling officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Maribel was born as the 3rd girl of four daughters to Charles Edward and Mary Grace (Chambers) Baker on December 9, 1921 in Enid and passed away April 17, 2019 after a long and wonderful life. All four daughters were born in the home that her father Charles bought for his new bride in 1914.

Maribel lived in Enid, her entire life and was educated in Enid Public Schools, graduating from Enid High School in 1939. She later was very happy to serve as the Chairman of her Class Reunions. They set a record by holding a 70th Reunion in 2009. She was married to James George Moore on April 7, 1942. They had 57 ½ great years at the time his death, August 14, 1999. To this union were born two daughters, Jamie Kay and Larrie Ann. She and James were extensive travelers, having visited all 50 states, all Provinces of Canada, parts of Europe, Asia, and Mexico. They drove to Alaska twice and went above the Artic Circle. They were also active as Charter Members of Dudes and Dolls Square Dance Club, and danced for 38 years. She and James were great OU fans and had season football tickets for over 30 years.

She has been a member of Central Christian Church since the age of 14, also a member of the Sooner Sunday School Class. She is a 76 year member of Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, having served all Chapter offices and also held State offices, also a 75 year member of OES#36 Eastern Star Chapter. A very proud moment was when she was inducted in to the Oklahoma Amateur Softball Hall of Fame, having played on State Champion Teams, and in 3 national tournaments.

She worked and retired from the Government at Vance Air Force Base Accounting Department after 30 years of service. As a wife and mother, she was involved with her children and grandchildren’s activities, spending many hours making costumes, traveling to their events involving softball, baton twirling, dancing and soccer, also Girl Scouts and Campfire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, her 3 sisters, Charlesa Lee (Bud) Clark, Wanna Loo (Raymond) Tabeling, Betty Waddell and an infant brother, Charles Jr, also all of James’ family of two brothers and six sisters, which were very dear to her.

She is survived by daughters, Jamie Kay Moore of San Antonio, TX; Larrie Ann (Jim) Halbrook, Ponca City, OK; grandchildren, Hillarie (Greg) Graham of Lake St. Louis, MO, Heather Halbrook, Ponca City, OK, Hayden(Chesney) Halbrook, Kiefer, OK, Bernita Helberg, San Antonio, TX, and great granddaughters, Autumn Taylor Graham of Lake St. Louis, MO, and Laikyn Darcy Halbrook, and great grandson Tanis James Halbrook both of Kiefer, OK, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Both her mother and father had very large families and were close to all. She had many friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Her memorial is to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
