Olive Meritt

The funeral service for Olive Lorraine Bonnewell-Meritt will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Jim Edmison will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Olive was born in Cleo Springs, OK January 11, 1932 to Norris Oliver and Valeria Lorraine Daniels-Bonnewell. She lived in the Waynoka area, moving to Blackwell, Deer Creek, and finally to Jefferson in the spring of 1974.
She married Wayne Meritt on November 2, 1947 in Jefferson, OK. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2009. After the birth of her six children, she obtained her GED in 1969 and went on to achieve a nursing degree from Northern Oklahoma College. Her nursing career encompassed the Wakita Health Center, Bass Baptist Hospital and Director of Nursing at the University Nursing Center in Enid.
Survivors include, her children: Michael Meritt and wife Carolyn of Winston, NC, Steve Meritt and wife Debra of Pond Creek, OK, Kathy Smith of Enid, OK, Elmer Meritt and wife Gina of Enid, OK, and Terry Meritt and wife P.J. of Bixby, OK; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; three brothers, Dan Bonnewell of Midwest City, OK, Robert Bonnewell of Sioux City, IA and Clint Bonnewell of Coleman, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, half brother, Carlos, brother, Kermit; son, Donald and granddaughter, Tanya.
