A Celebration of Life for Wensor Mena, age 92, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Willow View United Methodist Church with Reverend Lesly Broadbent officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Wensor was born to immigrant parents, Jesus and Maria Mena on December 18, 1924 in Enid Oklahoma, the eldest son of 5 siblings. He passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2016.
Wensor graduated high school in 1943 and was part of the Greatest Generation immediately enlisting in the Army Air Corp where he served to the end of WWII and into the post war era.
Upon returning home from service, Wensor married Wilma Irene Baker of Billings OK. They were married for 54 years, and together raised 5 children.
Wensor worked as a Weigh Master at Enid Terminal Elevator, a Unit Operator at Champlain Refinery, and at Vance AFB. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, hunting with his bird-dogs, Ham Radio and tinkering with assorted projects around the house. He was a dedicated Salvation Army volunteer.
He is survived by his three sons, Michael Ray Mena; John Wensor Mena and wife Lisa; James Douglas Mena and wife Laura; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Shook and husband Reggie; Michelle Harkey and husband Stan; grandchildren, Jason Hatcher, John Michael Mena, Marie Mena, Linda Mena, Jennifer Mena, Katie Mena, Anna Shook, Lauren Newman, Grace Shook, Ben Harkey, and Coleman Harkey; two brothers, Bernard and Joe Mena.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Mena, two sisters, Lorensa Dougherty, Tillie Campbell, and his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Enid Salvation Army with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
