Ralph Meier

October 9, 1931 — November 14, 2021

A Celebration of Life for Ralph Meier, age 90, of Enid, Oklahoma will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church Fairmont, with Rev. Mark Blakeman and Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Interment following in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Fairmont, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19th from 6:00 ~ 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Ralph was born October 9, 1931 in Enid to Martin and Nelda (Kramer) Meier, and passed away November 14, 2021. He grew up in Enid, attending Enid Public Schools and Phillips University. He lived his entire life in the Enid area.

On April 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lillian Louise Krejci. To this union four children were born; one daughter and three sons, Maryl Lyn, Martin Kent, Matthew Rodney and Mark Jeffrey Meier.

On May 4, 1984, he was united in marriage to Lora Faye Chrisman. To this union was added, Jimmy Chrisman and wife Caren; Kenneth and wife Theresa; Bonnie Evans and husband Greg; and Bruce Chrisman and wife Stacy. He has 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Ralph worked 41 years for Evans Drug Company in Enid, where he worked his way up from the tobacco counter to Executive Vice President at the time of his retirement. He was also the president of the Young Republican Party of Garfield County for two terms.

He had many hobbies; he loved hunting and fishing; repairing small engines; and was a carpenter. He built the house on the farm for his family, and could fix almost anything. He was a very good marksman. He loved the sports of boxing and rodeo. He boxed in high school and rode the rodeo circuit for two years. He loved horses best of all animals.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Enid for 52 years. He transferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, OK, and was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod all his life. He held many offices in the church and loved Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior with all his heart.

He is survived by his wife Lora of the home; sons, Martin Meier; Matthew Meier and wife Sheryl; Mark Meier and wife LaDonna; step-children, Jim Chrisman and wife Caren; Kenneth Chrisman and wife Theresa; Greg Evans and wife Bonnie; Bruce Chrisman and wife Stacy; and former wife, Lillian Smith; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin Meier and Nelda (Kramer) Meier; daughter, Maryl Lyn Meier; step-father, Henry Klassen; two sisters and their husbands, Vernieda Cox and husband Wendle; Adelee Gerken and husband Arnold; and beloved mother and father-in-law, Mary and Joseph Krejci; and mother and father-in-law, Marvin and Bonnie Prindle.

Ralph was a great-hearted, caring and loving man of God. We will miss him so very much, but thank God he was a special part of our life’s journey! He was a great son, loving and faithful husband, loving father and step-father, a very honest, considerate man, a true friend to many.

Memorial contributions in Ralph’s name may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont, OK; Elara Caring Hospice, or 4RKids with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
