Funeral services for Abbie “Jean” Meier will be 10 am Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Ray officiating. A private family burial will follow in the Garber Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jean was born October 26, 1930 as a twin to Alma Jane Beavers in Sedan, KS to Dwyer and Alma Hays and passed away from life on December 23, 2013. Jean grew up moving back and forth several times from Sedan to Garber finally settling in Garber at the age of 9 years old in 1939. She graduated from Garber High School in 1948. She met the love of her life in high school. Jean married LeRoy Meier on December 3, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber. They established their home in Garber. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber, where she worked as a secretary and tape ministry for many years.
Jean was as amazing homemaker and cook. She worked side by side with LeRoy as a farmer and rancher. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Jean is survived by her husband LeRoy of the home daughter Charlene Charles and husband Terry, sons Phillip Meier and wife Jane and son Charles Meier wife Lynette, two sisters Alma Jane Beavers and Anne Parrack, grandchildren Travis Charles and wife Rusti, Trent Charles wife Allison, Trevor Charles wife Jenny, Miste Munden, Curtis Meier and Shawn Huey, Great grandchildren Tabor, Tanner, Talor, and Emma Charles, Amelia and Peyton Munden and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, a brother Curtis, daughter Vickie, and grandson Ryan.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church tape ministry with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
