A Celebration of Life for John McMullen, age 86 years, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ted Kuschel officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
John was born May 23, 1930 in Jefferson, Oklahoma and passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in Enid. John lived in Jefferson, Oklahoma until age 6, when the family moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma where he attended and graduated from Tonkawa High School. He married Mary Lou Burris on April 2, 1949 in Tonkawa, and joined the National Guard in 1950. He served his country in Korea until he returned to the states in 1952. He and Mary Lou moved to Enid in 1953 where they made their home and he served as a maintenance chief for the National Guard for 35 years until his retirement in 1985. John was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou, daughter Susan Polwort, and son Paul McMullen.
John is survived by two daughters, Dyann Parson and husband Roger, of Enid; Laetitia Clark and husband Mitchell, of Oklahoma City; son Eric McMullen and wife Pat, of Enid; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; son-in-law Rich Polwort, of Enid; as well as many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Memorials in John’s name may be made to the Enid SPCA or Emmanuel Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
