Funeral services for V.O. “Mike” McMichael, age 82 will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Steve Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Mike was born March 24, 1929 in Anthony, KS to O.I. and Flora Mae Hightlinger McMichael. He departed this life on July 18, 2011.

Mike accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 14.

Mike grew up in the Anthony and Attica, Kansas area. He graduated from Attica High School in 1947. He was inducted into military service with the U S Army on January 5, 1951. After serving in Germany for a year and a half, he was honorably discharged on December 12, 1956. He married Peggy Fawcett on December 14, 1952 at First Baptist Church, Fairview, OK. He started his 41 year career with Santa Fe Railroad while still in high school, and retiring in November 1986. He worked as an agent in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, retiring as Regional Freight Office Manager in Harper, KS.

After retirement, they made their home in Amarillo, TX. Mike enjoyed woodworking and playing golf with his church buddies. They move to Enid in September 2010 to be closer to family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Texas and Kansas.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Olive and a brother, Melvin.

He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 58 years; a son, Curtis Alan of Yukon; a daughter, LeaAnn (Bob) Standrich of Wichita, KS; a grandson, Trevor Alan of Norman, OK; two sisters, Velta Maninger of Clearwater, KS and Dolly Andrews of Wichita, KS; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Jenene Tate of Enid, OK; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Gloria Fawcett of Wichita, KS; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
