A Celebration of Life for Madonna Dean McElfresh, age 80, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Friday, July 7, 2023 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gary Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home & Crematory.
Madonna was born May 7, 1943 in Carthage, Missouri to LeRoy and Avis (Mayfield) Phares, and passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at her home in Enid. She attended Enid Public Schools. She married James (Anthony) McElfresh on November 24, 1964. Madonna owned and operated Ma & Pa’s Place for twenty-seven years. She was very involved in community service; she was involved in 50/50 at Enid Speedway for many years and also volunteered at the Moose Lodge on Bingo nights. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; fishing, and flower arranging, having made wedding bouquets for her daughters and many others.
Madonna is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tracy Castleman; twin granddaughters, Emma and Justice Floriant; two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by her husband, Anthony McElfresh, of the home in Enid; four children; Darla Tauber and husband James, of Garber; Sherry Shortnacy and husband Roy, of Enid; Andy McElfresh of Enid; Angela Herring, of Enid; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Sue Payne and Cecilia Curless, both of Enid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Memorial contributions in Madonna’s name may be made to Humanity Hospice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
