The memorial service for Thata Faye DeMoss Lyda, age 83, will be held Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:00 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev Wade Burleson will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Thata was born on January 4, 1927, on a farm 6 miles northeast of Laverne, OK to Harley and Edith (Litton) DeMoss. She went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Enid, OK.

On October 21, 1949, she married Duane Lyda at the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Enid, O.

She attended Mount Pleasant School (1st-8th Grade, Laverne High School (9th-11th Grade) and completed her senior year at Enid High School. After high school, Thata attended Enid Business College where she graduated with a degree in business.

Thata was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, serving both as Sunday and Bible school teacher. She was a member of the Day Mission Women’s Group and enjoyed serving the community by delivering Meals on Wheels. She was involved with the youth of Garfield County and served as a 4-H leader. Thata worked at the Garfield County Agents Office and the Garfield County Fair Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Edith DeMoss as well as her sister, Marita Carris.

Survivors include her husband and best friend of 60 years, Duane of Enid; brother, Robert DeMoss of Oklahoma City, children: Jana and Michael Moehle of Carrier, Alan and Susan Lyda of Enid; grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Moehle of Chandler, Robin and Shane Peyton of Owasso, Jess and Jamai Lyda of Enid, Sara Moehle of Carrier and Rachel Lyda of Enid; great grandchildren, Jacob, Christian and Reagan Moehle of Chandler, Hayden Lyda of Enid, Madeline Peyton of Owasso; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Christian School with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be emailed to the family at ladusauevans@suddenlinkmail.com.
