Alan Leonard

March 22, 1946 — March 19, 2010

Alan “Jake” Leonard was born on March 22, 1946 to Orville Leonard and Wilma Van Hessel Leonard in Stillwater, OK and died March 19, 2010 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Jake grew up in the Mulhall, OK area graduating from Mulhall High school in 1964. Jake was a Viet Nam veteran and after returning from overseas lived in Phoenix, AZ where he met Kathleen “Kitty” Bennett. Jake and Kitty spent the next twenty-nine years together raising two kids, Ronnie and Cyndie. The family lived in Arizona, Texas and Douglas, Enid and Garber, OK. Living in Garber until Kitty preceded Jake in death in 2001.

Jake worked as a mill wright for many years for Harvey Construction in Breckenridge working on grain elevators throughout north central Oklahoma. The last several years of Jake’s life were spent working for Stan’s Asphalt, Enid, OK.

Jake was an avid gun collector and Harley Davidson collector and fabricator. Jake loved riding his Harley Knucklehead and did as often as possible.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Wilma Leonard; wife, Kathleen “Kitty” Leonard; half-brothers, Jimmy Barbaree, John Barbaree and Don Kannehl.

Jake is survived by his children, Ronnie Erickson and wife, Karen of Eldon, MO and Cyndie Erickson Ogburn and husband, Rusty of Enid, OK; Jake has three grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a third on the way; brother, Charlie Barbaree and wife, Jacki of Mabank, TX; sisters, Darlynn Barbaree Slater of Tulsa and Kaye Barbaree Latino and husband, Carl of Stillwater, OK and numerous nieces and nephews. Jake is also survived by an extensive group of friends, workers and acquaintances who all have their own special memories and experiences with Jake. Jake will be thought of often and remembered always. It was a great ride and so well worth the trip. Farewell, Brother Jake.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are made by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
