A Celebration of Life for LaVeta Lee, age 90, of Ames, will be 10:00am, Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Ames Christian Church with Pastors Ian Grimm and Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, OK. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:00pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
LaVeta was born December 24, 1932 in Okeene to Clarence and Marie (Metzler) Lamle, and passed away January 7, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She married Edwin Lee of Drummond on July 4, 1956, and made their home east of Ames. LaVeta was a member of the Ames Christian Church. She served many roles including Sunday School Teacher, 4-H Leader, and cheerleader for her granddaughters. LaVeta was an avid OSU Cowboy fan.
LaVeta is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Detrick and husband Gary of Ames; granddaughters, Jodi Gungoll, Amanda Herrera, Hollie Kuehni, Mikaela Burch and Mikenzie Lee; great grandsons, Kayden Herrera, Wyatt and Hayes Kuehni; brother, Jerry Lamle of Okeene.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin Lee; and son, Robert Lee; brothers, Norman Lamle and Roland “Cap” Lamle.
Memorial donations may be made to Ames Christian Church or Ames Fire Dept. with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
