A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Edwin Virgil Lee, 83 of Drummond will be Monday, December 21, 2015, 2:00 PM at the Ames Christian Church with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, OK.
Edwin was born July 27, 1932 in Ames, OK the son of Oliver Ralph and Bertha Lois Crawford Lee and passed away December 15, 2015. He attended Victory Country School for 2 years and graduated from Drummond High School in 1950. He played basketball under Coach Joe Vaughn four years at Drummond High School. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict serving in the 999th AFA Battalion. He handled munitions and troops. He drove men to Seoul and transported cement to build the new Triple Nine Mess Hall. Edwin was united in marriage to LaVeta Lamle in Drummond, OK July 4, 1956. He was a self-employed farmer and rancher for many years in the Drummond area, a member of the Drummond Elevator Board and a charter member of the Ames Lions Club. He was a member of the Ames Christian Church. Edwin was an avid OSU sports fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Army reunions in Pueblo, CO, North Littlerock, AR, New Orleans, LA, Columbus GA, Bloomington, MN and York, NE.
Survivors include his wife LaVeta, a daughter, Cynthia Detrick and her husband Gary of Ames, OK, a son, Robert Lee and his wife Lisa of Drummond, OK and five granddaughters, Jodi Gungoll, Amanda Herrera, Hollie Detrick, Mikaela Lee and Mikenzie Lee and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Estel Lee.
