A Celebration of Life Service for R. L. “Red” Layman age 92 of Fairmont will be 2:00 pm Friday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Burial will follow in the Collett Cemetery, Fairmont under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
R. L. was born April 19, 1926 in Verden, OK to William and Maudie L. (Evans) Layman and passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 in Stillwater, OK. He attended school in Verden, OK and later went watch repair school in Weatherford, OK. Red married Hilda A. Staub on October 5, 1947 in Mooreland, OK andshe passed away October 10, 2010. They moved to Wichita, KS and later to Enid where he went to work as a carpenter. He retired in 1986.
He is survived by his children, Richard Layman and wife Mary of Midwest City, Sandra Justice and husband Edward (Sam) of Enid, Martina Haley and husband Bill of Enid and Edwin Layman and wife Verie of Enid, and a daughter Carol of Texas, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Osaperel Reeder of Pixley, CA and Wanda Reeder of Fresno, CA and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
