A Celebration of Life for Joseph Kudlac, age 97, of Enid is 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Central Christian Church. Reverend Don Johnson and Reverend John Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Joseph passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Enid. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Joe was born on a farm east of Hennessey, Oklahoma on Dec. 13, 1917 to Joe and Louise (Vrska) Kudlac. He received his education at Center View School also east of Hennessey. Joe farmed near Hennessey in his early working career and then worked at Northcutt Chevrolet of Enid for over 37 years as a front-end alignment specialist. He had lived at the same location in North Enid since 1963. He enjoyed a Life Membership in the Men’s Garden Club since 1970 serving for many years as Chairman of the Garden Problems & Solutions Committee. He had a special interest in vegetable/flower gardening and pecan trees. He was always glad to share his knowledge of gardening as well as share his harvest of pecans and vegetables with his friends and family. He won Grand Champion seedling at the State Pecan show with the pecan variety named after him. He also enjoyed fishing and was always ready to go fishing.
He is a member of Central Christian Church and attended the United Methodist Church in Waukomis, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Oklahoma Polka Club and served as King of the Club in 2007 along with his daughter Joan as Queen.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel Lucille Holmes Kudlac of 53 years, and parents Joe and Louise Mary (Vrska) Kudlac of Hennessey, Oklahoma, as well as one brother and four sisters.
Joe is survived by daughter Joan Winterringer of Enid, and son Jerry Kudlac and wife Cleo, of Yukon, Ok; three granddaughters, Jan Hunter and husband Jeff, of Oklahoma City; Jill Wallis and husband Eric, of Oklahoma City; Katherine Huggins and partner Jess Andrews of Enid; one great-grandson Cameron Glenn of Oklahoma City, and four great-granddaughters, Haleigh Glenn, Hayley Hunter, Emily and Hannah Wallis, all of Oklahoma City, niece Dena Kudlac and nephew Rudy Kudlac of Ft. Worth, Texas; and great nephew Jimmy Joe Simunek and wife Mary Ann, of Lake Jackson, Texas.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, Enid, Oklahoma with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
