Velma Ada Christina Niehus (Pope) Kroll, age 97, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to her heavenly home with Jesus on Friday, February 20, 2015. Velma was born February 24, 1917 to her parents, Eldo and Anna Niehus of Fairmont, OK. Preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert J Pope and Herman H Kroll; parents; sisters, Tillie Meyer, Leona Cutter; brothers, Art, Willie, and baby boy. Velma is survived by her five children; son, Gerald (Arba Jo) Pope of Covington, OK; daughters, Brenda (Keith) Lesher, Bonnie (Dakin) Cramer, both of Wichita, Sharlene (Vince) Micelli of Derby, KS, Connie (David) Tajchman of Bel Aire, KS; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
Velma loved her family and always set an example of unconditional love. Her favorite saying was “always be nice,” and she lived by that in every aspect of her life.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the many years of compassionate care provided by Andover Court Assisted Living and the comfort and care given by Rivercross Hospice. Velma was a life time member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church 510 Fairmont Road, Fairmont, OK 73736. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
