A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Leon H. Koons, 89, of Enid, will be Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 1:30 PM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Pastors Jerry Holt and Lavern Crosson officiating. Interment will follow in the Karoma Cemetery in Goltry, OK. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM.
Leon was born January 9, 1925 in Goltry, OK the son of George W and Carrie Johnson Koons and passed away October 31, 2014. He was a veteran of WWII serving under General George Patton in the United States Army Infantry. He was united in marriage to Catherine Patton on August 3, 1942 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Leon was a lifelong farmer and a manager at Superior Truck Stop in Enid. Leon was a member of Liberty Southern Baptist Church of Enid, VFW and American Legion. Leon and Catherine played in several music groups. He will be remembered as a strong gentle man.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine, a daughter, Kathy Koons of Dripping Springs, Texas, three sons, Harold Koons and his wife Mary Ann of Colony, Oklahoma, Barry Koons of Hulbert, Oklahoma, and Elgin Koons and his wife Sheila of Blanchard, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and one sister, Bonnie Koons of Lindsborg, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
