A Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Catherine G. Koons, age 91 years, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jerry Holt will officiate. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Catherine passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Enid.
She was born October 4, 1924 in Jet, Oklahoma the daughter of Samuel Patton and Zenobia Maude (Marley) Patton. She was raised on the Patton family farm, and married Leon Koons of Goltry, Oklahoma. They continued to farm until retirement. She was a self-employed piano and organ teacher in the Enid area. She also played organ and piano for several churches throughout her career. Catherine attended Phillips University in continuance of her music education. She also enjoyed painting, photography and gardening. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Leon and their friends. Upon retirement, they spent most winters in the south of Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maude Patton, husband of 72 years, Leon Koons, two brothers, Ernest and James Patton, and a sister, Alice Petersen.
She is survived by daughter, Kathy Koons of Wimberley, Texas; three sons, Harold Koons and wife Mary Ann, of Colony, Oklahoma; Barry Koons of Hulbert, Oklahoma; Elgin Koons and wife Sheila, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Southern Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
