Shannon was born on July 24, 1979 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Timothy Metzger and Marsha (Metzger) Van Nostrand, and gained her angel wings on June 22, 2020. Shannon was beautiful inside and out with a charismatic personality that was embracing and infectious, always enlightening the lives of others. She truly lived by her words, “Don’t worry about it; I got this.” Shannon was strong-willed and never afraid to express herself or stand up for what she believed was right.
In her youth, she loved playing “War” in the Weeds and loved to run Turkey Creek and catch crawdads with the boys. She loved to play sports, and was never afraid demonstrate her abilities, then spin on a dime and play the role of the precious princess. She could always steal the show regardless of where she was or what she was doing and was never too big to sit in Daddy’s lap.
She graduated from Ponca City High School and continued her post-secondary education at Northern Oklahoma College where she obtained her Associate of Applied Science degree. Shannon worked for OBI for 14 years, then worked at Larry’s Home Oxygen.
Shannon was the mother of three beautiful children, who were her whole world. Nothing was more important to Shannon than her family. Not only was she a loving mother and daughter, she was the greatest Aunt Nene to her nieces and nephews.
Shannon is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Roy C. Morgan; paternal grandparents, Victor and Dorothy Metzger; uncle, Larry Metzger; and great-aunt, Ruth Metzger. She is survived by her parents, Timothy Metzger and wife Danita, of Springer, OK; mother, Marsha Van Nostrand and husband Russell, of Enid; daughters, Alexandria Kirkhart; Shelby Kirkhart, and son, Thomas “Trey” Kirkhart, II, all of Waukomis; brother, Jason Metzger and wife Lesli, of Apache, OK; brother, Jonathan Metzger and wife Megan, of Owasso, OK; sister, Maliya Metzger, of Springer, OK; as well as other family and many friends.
