The funeral service for Billie Eli Kerr, age 80 will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Helena, OK. Rev Len Coulter and Rev Joel Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, Helena, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Billie was born in Aline, OK to Harvey Temple and Mary Ellen Kerr on February 3, 1931 and died February 18, 2011 in Enid, OK. He attended Chaney Dell School through the 8th grade. He attended two years in Aline and graduated from Helena High School in 1949.

He was employed at Helena National Bank from 1949 until 1988. He served two years for the US Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict. Medals earned, The Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry, Korean Service, United National Citizen, W 5 Battle Star, Korean Presidential Citizen and U S Citizen. Billie served as treasurer for the Helena School District for 16 years and became Alfalfa County Commissioner for District 3 for five years. He was united in marriage to Katherine Anne Sterla, December 23, 1956 and born to this union was one daughter, Kayla Ann Kerr.

Survivors include his wife Katherine, a daughter Kayla Ann Kerr, brother, Herb Kerr of Canton, OK; nieces, Myrtle Madison of Enid, OK, Phyllis Payne of Enid, OK and Barbara Haybrock; three nephews, Craig Kerr and family of Piedmont, OK, Lonnie Joe and family of Chickasha, OK and Clay Alan and family of Wichita, KS and a very special family, The Lile’s of Helena and numerous other family of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Temple on January 25, 1974, mother, Mary Ellen Kerr, on December 10, 1996, an infant sister, Jean Marie in December, half-sisters, Maxine Nicholas and Gertrude Ging.

Memorials may be made to the Head Start Program at The Commons which Billie loved or Hospice Circle of Love.
