Funeral services for Eldon L. “Ed” Kemph age 91 of Enid will be 10 am Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Chaplain Les Hastings officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Ed was born March 13, 1922 in Goltry, OK to Raymond and Dollie Posey Kemph and passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Sterling House. Ed grew up in the Ringwood community where he attended and graduated from Ringwood High School. He entered the United States Marines August 1, 1942 during WW II. He participated in action against the Japanese at Guadalcanal, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He was at the bottom of Mt. Suribachi when they raised the flag. He was honorably discharged on October 13, 1945.
Ed married Dorothy Wiggins on September 13, 1945 in Ringwood and she passed away January 5, 2007.
He was co-owner of Kemph/Munsinger Heating and Air Conditioning until he retired and sold the business in 2009. Ed and Dorothy traveled extensively all over the world. Ed was a stockholder in Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was an avid hunter of quail, pheasant, turkey, and deer. He made annual trips to Colorado to hunt elk. He enjoyed going to sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Ed enjoyed rebuilding tractors, jeeps, motorcycles and automobiles.
Ed is survived by his children, Dennis and his wife Johnette Kemph of Enid, Jerry and wife Susan Kemph of Enid, and Karla Kemph of Yukon, four grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Jared, and Heather, great grandchildren Trinity and Kadri, and one brother Wilbur Kemph of LeFors, TX and several nieces and nephews. Ed was a loving father, grandfather and loved by his family.
