Eugene Karber

June 23, 1935 — November 28, 2011

Eugene Karber was born June 23, 1935 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Harry and Luella Karber and died Monday, November 28, 2011 after a long illness.

Eugene was raised in Balko, Oklahoma. He attended high school at Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma and then attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. After college he moved to Denver, Colorado working at Colorado General Hospital. While in Denver, he met Ramona Friesen and they were married on June 29, 1957. They then moved to Garden City, Kansas where he farmed and later began work at the Garden City Coop and eventually Production Credit Association. They had two children while in Garden City. In 1976 they moved to Enid, Oklahoma and he continued working at PCA until his retirement. He then worked for the Mennonite Brethren Foundation for 7 years retiring from that position in 1999. He was an active member of the Enid MB Church where he enjoyed many years singing in the choir and quartet. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife Ramona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jess Karber and one sister, Lola Jost. He is survived by his wife, Ramona, one son Keith Karber and his wife Jonnie of Enid, one daughter Cheryl Wolfe and her husband Galen of Tuttle; grandchildren Shona Helterbrake, Stacia Paul, Shaye Aman, Skye Weber and her husband Cory, Chase Karber and his wife Sara, Andra Wilkerson and her husband Matt, Kala Williams and her husband Kyle, Dillan Wolfe; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. Rev Lynford Becker will officiate. A private family burial will be before the service in the Enid Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. There will be a time of visitation with the family Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
