Lawrence Johnson

February 2, 1928 — February 11, 2015

A celebration of life and remembrance for Lawrence Johnson, age 87, of Enid, is 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 13, 2015, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alan Seibel and Reverend Gary Lillie officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, February 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Lawrence passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Enid.

He was born February 2, 1928, to Ira O. Johnson and Lenore (Hardy) Johnson, on the original Johnson family homestead in the Hunter-Kremlin area. Lawrence was a graduate of Kremlin High School, then shortly after served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He married Sarah Louise Newberry and they made their home and raised two children on the family farm. He was active in the community, serving on the Farmers Co-Op Board and the Lions Club. He was a deacon and an elder at Davis Park Christian Church in Enid. Later in life he and Sarah made their home at Golden Oaks Retirement Village. He enjoyed helping other residents getting to and from doctor appointments and volunteering his time. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, and he will be missed.

He is survived by his children, daughter Cathy Kever and husband Wayne, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; son Eldon Johnson and wife Tanya, of Perry, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Justin Kever and wife Larissa Armand, of Broomfield, Colorado; Ethan Kever of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Brekyn, Jordan, and Devan Johnson, of Perry, Oklahoma; brother, Walter Johnson and wife Lorene, of Breckinridge, Oklahoma; sisters Velma Schultz of North Enid, and Evelyn DeBoard and husband Bob of Allen, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Sarah, his parents, his brother, Alvin Johnson and sister Bernice Buss.

Memorials may be made to Oakwood Christian Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
