Funeral services for Gary “Jim” Johnson age 68 of Enid will be 10 am Monday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Strope officiating. Burial will follow in the Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, OK under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jim was born August 16, 1945 in Enid to Rufus and Leona Bucholz Johnson and passed away Thursday January 2, 2014 at this home. Jim went to school in North Enid during grade school and later went to Kremlin where he graduated in 1964. He attended and graduated from Enid Business College. Jim joined the US Army on November 6, 1968 and served during the Vietnam War being discharged on November 5, 1974. He started working for American Electric and Thilsted Electric. He married Sharon Woodbury on July 19, 1984. Jim went work for ESI Electrical Wholesale which later became Stewart C. Irby as an outside sales consultant retiring in October after over 25 years. He was also co-owner and right hand man at The Gift Box. Jim was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife Sharon and spending time with his son Michael and going to the horse races and the NASCAR races.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home, son Michael and wife Rosie Johnson, nine grandchildren, Steven, Olevia, Bryan, Mazzy, Madilynne, Hayden, Emme, Easton, and Austin, sister Phyllis Miller all of Enid and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leroy and Terry, two sisters Susie Burrell and Shirley Goodman, father in law Roy Woodbury.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church/Missions and SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
