Funeral services for Everette “Ed” J. Hyke age 82 of Enid will be 9 am Saturday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Alan Seibel officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Ed was born June 28, 1930 in San Diego, CA to Everette J. and Gertrude Elsner Hyke and passed away August 2, 2012 at his home after a period of ill health. He was raised in San Diego where he attended school. He entered into the U. S. Army in 1949 serving during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952.
Ed married Sonja Thompson on July 1, 1957 in Las Vegas. They moved to Enid in 1964 from Lincoln, Nebraska. He worked for Orkin as a supervisor until he started Hyke Pest Control in 1975 until the business was sold in 2000.
Ed was a member of Davis Park Christian Church where he served as a Deacon for several years.
He enjoyed camping and fishing with his friends and family. He enjoyed watching grandkids play football.
He is survived by his wife Sonja of the home, son Steve Hyke of Enid, daughters Robbin McKinzie and husband Dennis of Enid, Lora Spangrud and husband Scott of Blue Springs, MO, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents and step brother.
Memorial may be given to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
