The services for Vonna Humphreys will be held at the First Christian Church in Pond Creek, Oklahoma on Thursday, February, 18, 2010 at 10:00 am. The service will be officiated by Sherry Shaw. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, OK. Arrangements are under the guidance of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Vonna went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2010. She was born August 6, 1937 to William and Jessie Morris in Enid Oklahoma. After graduating from Enid high school in 1956, she went to work for First National Bank of Enid. In April 1959, she married Richard Humphreys of Pond Creek, Oklahoma. It was there that they lived and raised their family. While it was Richard who took a more active role in the community, Vonna was the glue that held the home together. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pond Creek, as well as, many other local organizations while her children were in school. Vonna had resided in Dallas, Texas the past year and a half to be closer to her children. While she had tried to remain in contact with friends in Pond Creek, she had missed the community where she spent most of her life.
Vonna leaves behind 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren. They are Gary Humphreys and wife Claudia of Grandview, Texas, Terry Humphreys and wife Rhonda of San Antonio, Texas, Jill Humphreys of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jona Prince and husband Scott of Allen, Texas. Grand Children are Eric, Jake, Torry, Riley, Josh and Jordon. Great grand children are Tyler, J.T., Abigail, Sara, and Jake. Also left behind are her sister Jana Hill of Enid, Oklahoma, and brother Bill Morris of Othello, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brother Tom, and step grandson Christopher Welch.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the name of Vonna Humphreys, to the First Christian Church of Pond Creek memorial fund, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as the custodians. Condolences may be emailed to the family at ladusauevans@suddenlinkmail.com.
