A Celebration of Life for Vaneata Rae Howard Schultz, age 90 years, of Enid, will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial following. Pastor Kenneth Wade will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Vaneata was born east of Nash, Oklahoma on the family farm on March 16, 1926 to Don B. and Della I. (Hurley) Howard, and passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Enid.
Vaneata graduated from Jet High School in 1944. Following high school, she moved to California where she did clerical work for the military. She came back to Oklahoma and worked for the WWII Prisoner of War Camp in Alva, Oklahoma, and from there she went to Vance Air Force Base where she worked for 33 years as the Personnel Systems Manager until her retirement.
She met Harold Schultz at the skating rink and they were married on April 1, 1948, and made their home on a farm in Breckinridge, before making their permanent home in Enid. Since her retirement, she was active in NARFE where she was a past president. She was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Vaneata enjoyed western movies, having a lovely garden, and watching birds and butterflies out of her windows.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold E. Schultz; son Craig E. Schultz; granddaughter Shannon D’Nae Keck; two sisters, Avonne Jo Jager and Myrna D. Waddill.
Vaneata is survived by her daughter, Debra Perrin and husband Larry, of Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Myra B. Richardson, of Edmond, OK; granddaughter, Ava Dawn Zambalis and husband Brandon, of Broken Arrow, OK; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Stewart of Elsmere, KY; and Xoi Zambalis, of Broken Arrow, OK.
Memorials in Vaneata’s name may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
