Graveside services for Gary W. Hooper age 74 of Enid will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Darrel Maddox officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Gary was born January 9, 1939 in Thomas, OK to Frank and Marvell Ferrell Hooper and passed away at his home on Wednesday April 10, 2013. He was raised in Thomas where he attended and graduated from Thomas High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U. S. Army National Guard and served until 1964. He married Joyce Ann Smith on August 15, 1962 in Weatherford, OK and she passed away October 17, 2008. He worked as an electrician, owned his own logging business and later became a certified passenger elevator-escalator mechanic retiring in 1999 from Montgomery Elevator Co. He came to Enid in 1976. He was a member of Hallmark Baptist Church. He was prophecy teacher. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his daughters Carla Maddox and husband Darrel of West Siloam Springs, OK, Sue Douthit and husband Randy of Tulsa, and his sons James Enos Hooper and wife Sabina, William Clyde Hooper, Frank Absalom Hooper, and Samuel Isaac Hooper all of Enid, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, brother Doug and Sherri Hooper of Edmond, sisters Beverly Hooper of Tulsa, and Carolyn Snider of Weatherford, OK and several other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers R.E. Hooper and Tommy Hooper, and one great grandchild.
Gary and his wife Joyce were affectionately known to most by the names Mom and Dad.
