Doris was born to Carl and Amelia (Sonnenberg) Mittelstet on April 24, 1928 on their family farm near Aline, OK, the 13th of 15 children. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 28, 2021, surrounded by her family. Doris joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church when her family moved from the farm to Enid, OK. She was baptized and confirmed on March 22, 1945 by Pastor August Meitler. She worked at F.W. Woolworths until her graduation from Enid High in 1946, after which she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. L.E. Warder. She married Gordon Holle on September 25, 1949 and joined Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont. Together they raised 2 children and managed Gordon’s family farm until his untimely death in 1983. Doris continued to manage the farm until the age of 75 and remained active in the church, where she served in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the choir, and volunteered at the church’s Christian Day School their children attended. She was a member of the Friendship Circle of Fairmont. Doris also enjoyed oil painting, yard work and was an avid volunteer who crafted school kits, lap quilts, and health kits with her LWML friends to be distributed worldwide through Lutheran World Relief.
