LaVeta Marie Holsten Hoeltzel was born June 3, 1919 near Lahoma, Oklahoma and died September 27, 2017, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was 98 years old. She was baptized June 15, 1919 and confirmed May 7, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma. She attended Starlight Grade School, Zion Lutheran Church School, and graduated Lahoma High School in 1937.
LaVeta married Roy Hoeltzel on July 23, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma. Two daughters were born to their marriage, Karen Lynette and Kathryn Kay.
She worked at Marquis Studio and at Carrier Junior High School as well as being a partner to her husband on the family farm.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Karen and Gene Vogt; daughter Kathryn and husband Steve Donahue; her grandson Kyle Payne and his wife Sarah; granddaughter Micha and husband Ronnie Krodel; and great grandchildren Oliver and Owen Payne and Cooper and Marley Krodel.
LaVeta was preceded in death by her parents, Luis Wilhelm August Holsten and Justine Katharina Rebecca Nolting, and brothers, Leonard, Alfred, Harold and Louis.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Monday, October 2 at 2 p.m., with Reverend Travis Orr officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor and remembrance of family members or the charity of choice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
