Dale Rodney Hicks was born on leap year, February 29, 1940 in Blythe, California to Lucile & Lloyd Hicks. He was raised by his grandparents Edna & Delbert Hicks and they resided around the Porterville, California area. Dale graduated High School in Porterville in 1959 and married Jeanette Waggoner and moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1959. He was a mechanic and worked for Northcutt’s and later opened his own shop D & H Automotive. He worked for more than 30 years for OG&E in Enid and retired in 1999. Dale and Jeanette later divorced. Eventually, he married Ruth Ann Clark at Grace Chapel on June 15, 1998.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lucile and Lloyd, Grandparents Edna and Delbert, sister Sandra Reeves and her husband Doug Reeves, and his brother Max.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann of Enid, sisters Joan Morris and her husband Roger, Mary and husband Rocky, and Philis Gabel and husband Doug of Coeur D’Alene, ID, two sons Rod Hicks of Thornton, CO. and Rick Hicks and his wife Jane, of El Reno, OK, grandson Justin Hicks and granddaughter Jamie Riley both of Yukon, OK, and great granddaughter Bailey Riley of Yukon, OK.
He loved to hunt and always enjoyed going to church, being around family, animals, and wildlife.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 am Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Wayne Bland officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
