Funeral services for Verneal Richard Hiatt will be held 11:30 am, Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Reber, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Verneal was born July 24, 1930 in Fairmont, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Martha (Hamann) Hiatt and passed away December 22, 2020 surrounded by his family. He graduated from Fairmont High School. Verneal was drafted February 21, 1951 into the Army, where he served in the Korean War. He married LaDonna Rudy on February 7, 1953. Verneal worked as a Carpenter for different contractors for 52 years. He was also a member of the American Legion. Verneal was a major leader in the Boy Scouts and also enjoyed coaching baseball. He loved going to Canton Lake and to go fishing.
Verneal is survived by his children, Anita Chance, Roger Hiatt and his wife Terri, and Bryan Hiatt and his wife Annette; grandchildren, Jason Chance, Jami Chance and her spouse Rubin McBride, Paige Chance, Alicia Hiatt, Ty Hiatt and Stacy Chance; 13 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaDonna Hiatt and brother, William Hiatt; son-in-law, Larry Chance.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
