A Celebration of Life for Nadine L. Herbert, age 95, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Breckinridge, with Rev. Travis Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Nadine was born May 31, 1921 on her grandparent’s farm in Garfield, County. Her early school years were spent in a little country school, and then she graduated from Garber High School in 1937. She married Emanuel Herbert on August 21, 1940 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage in Breckinridge. She was a helping hand to Emanuel on the family farm, driving wheat trucks, caring for the cattle, or whatever other chores were needed on a daily basis. Nadine excelled in sewing, making her daughters clothes, baking and cooking chicken noodles and pecan rolls for family dinners, as well as having a natural talent for use of colors and decorating.
Nadine was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Breckinridge and the Priscilla Society. She enjoyed helping make many quilts that were sent overseas as mission projects. Nadine was a faithful member of the Love, Truth, and Loyalty Home Extension Club for many years and served as a president of the county EHG Council. She also enjoyed serving as a class parent, attending many school activities as well as chaperoning two senior trips.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Blaser Hermanski; husband Emanuel Herbert, daughter Linda Aebi, grandson Kyle Aebi; son-in-law Gary Semrad; sister Dorothy Sargent, and brother, Bud Hermanski.
Nadine is survived by three daughters, Donna Semrad of Enid; Mary Beth Light and husband Jack of Enid; Peggy Harvey and husband Don, of Enid; son-in-law Harold Aebi, of Pond Creek; brother, Jack Hermanski, of Garber; eight grandchildren, Todd Semrad, of Hunter; Shelly Hinds and husband Mark, of Grantham, PA; Lalita Hadley and husband Doug, of Tucson, AZ; Wes Light and wife Deann, of Enid; Misty Duda and husband Cort, of Longmeadow, MA; Kevin Aebi and wife Wendy, of Jenks, OK; Tonya Harvey and Tiffany Harvey of Enid; thirteen great-grandchildren, Macy Hinds, of Carlisle, PA; Hayden and Travian Semrad from Hunter; Jack, Allyson and Dylan Hadley, all of Tucson, AZ; Lakan, Brooklan, Weston and Ashlan Light, all from Enid; Trenon Duda, of Longmeadow, MA; Braden and Madison Aebi, from Jenks; several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Memorials in Nadine’s name may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or The Lutheran Hour with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
