Funeral services for Deborah Ann “Debby” Head will be held, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2 pm at St Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Father Larry Kowalski will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Debby was born in Enid, OK on January 25, 1952 to Emmitt “Junior” and Betty Miller. She was the second of three children. She attended Enid public schools, graduating in 1970 from Enid High School, and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
On July 12, 1975 she married Thomas Head. They remained happily married until his death in September 2006. Their only son, Brandon Thomas Head was born in 1983. Brandon was the center of Debby’s world, and her greatest source of joy and pride. During his years in school, she spent countless evenings and weekends attending his EJRT baseball games, tournaments, and simply enjoying time with him and his many friends. Debby was always a welcome addition to the activities of the youngsters in her life. Her easy manner and ready laugh made her a delight to be around, and the object of the affection of every niece and nephew in the family.
Even though she was a devoted Enid Plainsman, at heart, she frequently donned the colors of the Pioneer Mustangs, becoming the number one fan of her nephew and nieces who attended Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Schools. “Aunt Deb” always kept a schedule for each child’s activities displayed on the refrigerator, and she attended every game that she could, knowing all the players by name, uniform number and style of shot or batting stance. Debby was a true sports fan.
Aside from local high school sports, Debby loved to follow college and professional sports, year around. She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and rarely missed a television game. She also loved the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, but like any true sports fan, she found joy in watching any team, any sport, anytime. She simply loved the competition and the excitement of a good ballgame.
She was employed in the Operations department of Central National Bank, for whom she had worked for more than thirty years. She was fiercely loyal to her employer, and dedicated to her job, and she made many friends during her years at Central.
Debby is survived by her son, Brandon of the home, her mother, Betty Miller of Enid; sister, Sharon O’Brien and husband Jack of Yukon, and a brother, Terry Miller and wife Kathy of Enid as well as numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a great-niece and great nephew.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Head, father, Emmitt “Junior” Miller, and grandparents, Skip and Pansy Miller and Henry and Rose Apel.
