A Celebration of Life for Mark Lee Harris will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Chris Gordon will officiate and burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery.
Mark was born February 28, 1951 in Enid, to David Emerson and Elnora Faye (Dick) Harris, and died September 21, 2016 in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in Fairmont, Oklahoma where he attended Zion Lutheran Grade School. He graduated from high school at Garber, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1974 with a degree in Automotive Technology.
After graduating from college, he accepted a job with Carrier Corporation (later United Technologies) and moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked as an area supervisor until his retirement.
After moving to Memphis, he met Sheree Sanderson, whom he married in 1978. From this union there was born, a son, Brett Emerson Harris and a daughter, Holly Diane Harris.
Mark was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Christian Union Church and came to know Christ at a young age.
Mark was a loving father, brother and uncle. He loved cars, pickup trucks, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles (not necessarily in that order). He was a loyal friend, and remained in close touch throughout the years with David “Barney” Anderson, Monte McHendry, Clifford Sohl, and Leon & Ronnie Fowler.
Mark loved the wind in his hair (hence his love of motorcycles). He was a wonderful father, and a proud parent of Brett and Holly. He was strong of character, had a great sense of humor, was sentimental, humble, loyal, responsible, frugal, a dog lover, and he loved Oklahoma.
Surviving him are his son, Brett Emerson Harris, Nashville, TN; his sister, Barbara Ebert and husband Jerry, Hennessey, OK; his niece Leslie Eren Russell and husband Mike, Choctaw, OK; his niece Susan Elisabeth Ebert and husband Steven Stark, Oklahoma City, OK; five grand nephews, Dax Cooper, Deven Cooper, Mikey Russell, Severin Stark and Wolfgang Stark; and one grandniece, Aubrey Russell; as well as several aunts and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Holly Diane Harris; his parents, David Emerson Harris and Elnora Faye Harris; and his grandparents William Emerson and Mary “Molly” Elizabeth Harris and Finus Orlo and Myrtle Louisa Dick.
Memorials may be made in the memory of Mark to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN or to the Methodist Hospice Residence, Memphis, TN with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
