Former Enid resident Mark Harmon died locally on April 22, 2012. He was born in Enid on July 6, 1947 to L. Francis and Betty Jo Utsler Harmon. He graduated from Enid High School in 1966 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, graduating from the OU School of Pharmacy. He was also a graduate of ROTC, ranking as a 2nd Lieutenant serving in the U.S. Medical Corps as medical officer . He continued active service in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Guam, Korea, Vietnam and the Azore Islands obtaining the rank of Captain. He began a career in pharmacy sales with the Upjohn Co. and retired from the Bristol-Meyer Co. He eventually retired in Leavenworth, Kansas becoming involved with volunteer work and serving as a counseling mentor at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother Joe Lynn Harmon and grandparents. He is survived by his mother Betty Jo Harmon, sister, Francee Hume and her husband Jeff Hume of Enid, niece Courtney Filer and her husband Daniel and daughter Reagan of Dallas, niece Lesley Hume of Austin, nephew Andrew Hume of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by aunts and uncles Glenn and Tommie Harmon of Enid, Jean Harmon of McKinney, Texas, and Squire and Dorothy Utsler of Enid. Donations may be made to the VFW. A graveside service has been scheduled for Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Enid Cemetery and a memorial service will follow at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Rev Keith Miller will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
