A Celebration of Life service for Glenn W. Harmon, age 91, of Enid, will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Enid. Pastor Keith Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, August 25, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Glenn was born in Ringwood, Oklahoma, March 24, 1923 to Allie and John Harmon and died August 18, 2014 in Enid. They moved to Enid where he attended school and graduated in 1941. Upon graduation he joined the Air Force for 38 months as an aircraft mechanic.
He married Tommie Lou Mudgett February 15, 1946 and they had one son, Jerry Glenn Harmon. He became a member of the Enid Police Department in 1947, retiring as a Captain after a record of 38 years. During his time on the force, he organized a police basketball and tennis teams for his “boys”. He and his brother Gene also organized a boy’s and girl’s “PAL” club and taught young people to play tennis. He also coached tennis for a while at Phillips University. Shelves of trophies speak of his ability as a winner himself!
Glenn was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School where he taught a men’s class for several years. He loved the Word of God.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Tommie Lou, of the home in Enid. He was preceded in death by their son, Jerry, three brothers, Lee, Francis and Gene, their wives, and his parents, John and Allie.
Memorials may be made to the Next Generation Fund, c/o the First Baptist Church, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians of the funds.
