Shirley Haffner

September 14, 1924 — December 19, 2010

The funeral service for Shirley Ann Haffner, age 86 will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Kenneth Wade will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are entrusted with the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Shirley was born September 14, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI to Roy and Margaret (Siegfried) Schmittinger and died December 19, 2010 at home. She graduated from the Girls Tech High School in Milwaukee, WI.

She married Woodrow “Woody” Haffner on October 24, 1942 in Milwaukee. She worked in a shell factory and sewed parachutes during WW II. She retired from the Lahoma Public School Food Service, after 36 years. Shirley loved cross stitching, crossword puzzles and OSU football, and was an all around sports fan. She was artistic and creative.

Survivors include her children: Ron Haffner and wife, Linda of Wylie, TX, Toni Nimmo and husband, Wayne of Enid, Lynne Benkendorf and husband Scott of Enid;12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and are expecting the arrival of two more great grandchildren in January and February; sister, Eilleen Ciesemier of Palatine, IL; and her dog, Lucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody, son, Dennis Haffner, sister, Mildred Flanagan, and brother, Thomas Schmittinger.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be emailed to the family at ladusauevans@suddenlinkmail.com
