Funeral service for Opal H. Gragert will be held 2:00pm, Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Mausoleum Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. David Reber, Jr officiating. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Opal was born August 17, 1926, in Enid to Eldo D. and Amanda (Schweer) Heim and passed away June 6, 2021 in Enid. She was made a child of God through baptism on August 22, 1926, by Rev. JH Holtmann at St. Paul’s Enid. She also confirmed her faith at Grace Lutheran Church, OKC on May 26, 1940, by Rev. Paul J. Hartenberger. Opal graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1944. The lessons and memorizations from her early years served her well and gave her comfort in her later years.
Opal married Lavern Gragert on May 23, 1948, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. After she and Lavern married, they made their home in Enid and were members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Opal was a life long member of the choir and active in LWML. She was a member of Desk and Derrick. Opal and Lavern enjoyed traveling with the OnGoers and visiting their grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Kris Young (Ron), Enid; Paula Adler (Steve), Parker, CO; son-in-law, Montie Walton, Enid. Grandchildren: Amy Young Doyle (Warren); Jennifer D. Adler; Kyle R. Young (Nikki); Amanda Adler Scherdin (Jeffrey); Toby G. Young; Kristopher J. Adler. Great grandchildren: Rylee, Camryn and Mia Doyle; Kylee and Coltyn Young; Avery Scherdin; Kaleb Coleman. Step-grandchildren: Dustin Walton (Lindsey) and Perry Walton (Nicole). Their children are Lucas, Madelyn, Jack, Abigail and Hannah. Brother-in-law, Robert E. Carlson, Rockford, IL.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lavern; two sisters, Marguerite Carlson and Florene Wyssmann Pralle; brother, Laverne (Bud) Heim; her beloved daughter, Ruth Walton. Also preceded by an infant daughter, and an infant great grandson, Gabriel Scherdin.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
