Gloria Skinner

October 6, 1950 — February 24, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria (Monkey) Jean Skinner, a beloved fishing/life partner, mother, sister, grandmonkey, and friend. Gloria peacefully passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 74.

Gloria is survived by her devoted fishing/life partner Melvin Howard; her bonus daughter, Michelle Watts; her seven grandchildren, Jamie and Lauren Skinner, Chelbie and Brandon Felton, Lynnsie and Zach Nelson; her brother, Richard (Pooder) Hopkins and his wife Lisa Hopkins; niece Klaire and her husband Jack Kallas; her sister-in-law Gayla Hopkins; and her four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Mason, Lillian, and Waylon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and James Hopkins and her brother, David Lee (Pete) Hopkins.

Gloria was born on October 6th, 1950, in Enid, Oklahoma. Gloria graduated Enid High School in 1968 and later went on to earn her cosmetology license at Beaches Beauty College. Gloria then discovered a love of dancing and spent many years teaching country and western dance lessons at various venues including The Knights of Columbus, City Boots, The 300 Club, and Cassiopeia's. Gloria also spent over 30 years creating and perfecting the Hopkins-Skinner Haunted House alongside her family. Fishing and camping were also one of Gloria's many passions. She and her partner Melvin spent many summers camping at Lake McMurtry with family and friends.

Gloria loved so many things in life; dancing, bowling, camping, fishing and Halloween, but there was nothing she loved more than being surrounded by those she loved most. She will always be remembered for her love and dedication to her family. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
