Funeral services for Evalyn M Girty, age 73 will be held 10 am Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Laura Williams-Choate and Rev. Jeff Pino will officiate. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Evalyn was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Clarence L Chew and Melva Elizabeth Hadley on January 30, 1941 and died April 23, 2014 in Enid, OK. She moved with her parents to Medford, Oregon at age 3. She moved with her mother and sisters in 1955 to Denver, CO and in 1958 to Cherokee, OK. She attended schools in Oregon, Colorado and Cherokee, OK. She married Jerry D Girty in 1959 at Cherokee, OK and moved back to Denver where he was stationed with the Air Force. They moved back to Cherokee in 1961. He died in 1980. She was a Cub Scout den mother for 8 years, a life member of the International Order of Job’s Daughters and Rainbow for girls. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by 5 children: Linda D Jackson and her husband, Mike of Enid, OK, Kenneth G Girty and his wife Laura of Cherokee, OK, Karl W Girty, Kelly D Girty, and Kristopher K Girty all of Enid, OK; 3 sisters, Melva Phillips and her husband Phil of Alva, OK, Belva Carter of Bemidji, MN, Linda Link and her husband, Mel of Cherokee, OK; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in 1980, her parents, Melva and her step-father, Kenneth G Braley, her father, Clarence L and her step-mother, Kathy; her son, Kurtis, both her maternal and paternal grandparents and her step-sister, Grace Gannon.
