Funeral services for Arnold W Gerken, 90, of Fairmont, OK will be Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, 10:30 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, OK with Rev Tim Dorsch officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 7 PM. The casket will not be open at the church.
Arnold was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Fairmont the son of Peter and Emma Frickenschmidt Gerken and passed away Jan. 25, 2013. He was a graduate of Garber High School. He was a veteran of WW ll serving in the United States Army. God, Country and Family were the most important things in his life. He was united in marriage to Adelee Meier Sept. 8, 1942 in Enid and she preceded him in death Jan. 31, 2007. They made their home on the family farm where he was born and raised. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He loved to hunt, fish and was an avid baseball fan. His entire life was dedicated to farming.
Survivors include one daughter, Dian Stringer and her husband Mike of Kansas City, MO, a son, Dennis Gerken and his wife Barbara of Fairmont, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a sister, Lucille McShane of Edmond, OK. and a dear friend, Evelyn Clodfelter of Enid. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
