Jack Gardner Jr

November 8, 1947 — May 26, 2014

A Celebration of Life for Jack Ryckman Gardner, 66, of Enid, will be at 4 pm Saturday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Doyle Newsom officiating. Internment will precede the service in the Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jack was born November 8, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK to Jack and Frances Gardner and passed away at his residence May 26, 2014. He was a graduate of Enid High School in 1966 and then attended Northwestern State University. While in high school Jack played football and also played guitar with a band, The Gentz. During this time he developed a lifelong love of music. This interest in music eventually led to his job with Contemporary Sounds and later to the opening of his store, Jack’s Records and Tapes. Later, Jack was employed by Temp-Safe Glass Company in Oklahoma City as a truck driver for over 20 years. He purchased his own truck and delivered for Advance Foods for several years, retiring in 2012.

Jack had an easy, engaging way about him. His ready smile and infectious laugh were qualities that earned him friends wherever he went. As fun as he was, he faced difficulty in life. After these struggles, he was an advocate and encouragement to those that sought him out. His special “karma” will be greatly missed.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patty Wood. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Courtney Wood, niece Pam Saylor and husband Mark, all of Edmond, nephew David Wood and his wife Lisa of Carbondale, IL. Other family members include six great-nieces and great-nephews as well as loving cousins. Jack had many friends who were as close as family. These special friends cared and attended to Jack in the weeks preceding his death and their contribution was immeasurable. Words cannot express the gratefulness of his family to these friends as well as to the ladies of Grace Care, Inc.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
