Funeral Services for LeRoy M. Frey, 78, of Enid will be Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Enid, OK. The Rev. Scott Whittenburg will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Kenneth Wade. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
LeRoy was born August 18, 1932 on a farm near Lahoma to Ole & Mary (Nolting) Frey and passed away from this life early Thursday morning, September 30th in Enid.
He attended Lahoma Elementary School and High School and then graduated from St. John’s High School and Jr. College in Winfield, KS. He then attended Concordia College in Seward, NE., earning his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education degrees.
He began teaching in Arnold, MO then went to Stewardson, IL and Leigh, NE, before coming to Enid to teach at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. He served as principal at several of these schools. He also served as the church organist during all of these years of teaching school. In 1976, he began teaching in the Enid Public Schools, beginning at Lincoln Elementary and then Coolidge Elementary until his retirement in 1994. LeRoy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Oklahoma Retired Educators, and Enid Retired Educators.
On June 22, 1956, he married Nancy Boyes in Waterloo, IA. She survives him along with their three children; Timothy of Enid, Randy and wife Kim of Winter Garden, FL and Christine and husband Arnulfo Mendoza of Enid. Grandchildren are Matthew Talas, Sara and Raquel Mendoza, and Brittany and Megan Frey, one sister Irene Reindhardt of Enid.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Elmer and Cecil (Bill) of Lahoma, Wilbur of Denver, CO and sisters Edna Mann, Lucille Yeatman, and Mary Ann Pautsch, all of Enid.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran School or Music Funds with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
