Funeral services for Mary Freese, age 89, of Covington, are 10:00 am, Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Covington First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kim Giles and Rev. Tommy Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, on Sunday, January 14, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Mary was born April, 7, 1928 on the family farm NE of Covington that her grandfather homesteaded, to Oscar and Katherine (Staerkel) Kimmell, and passed away, Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Enid.
Mary attended Lonestar Elementary School and graduated from Covington High School in 1945. She married Orval Lee Freese on April 30, 1948 in Garber. She and Orval started their lives together on a farm just east of the homestead where she was born, and always lived within ¾’s of a mile of the original farm until they moved to Enid in 2011. Mary was very active in the Covington community. She was a member the Covington United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women; she was a member of the Home Demonstration Club; the Lonestar Club; and the Covington East Side Club. Mary enjoyed quilting, and enjoyed making quilts for her family.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Katherine Kimmell; husband Orval Freese; two brothers and a sister. She is survived by three sons, Dwight Lee and wife Paula, of Duncan, OK; Larry Dean and wife Vicky, of Kearney, MO; Lynn Byron and wife Lori, of Scott City, KS; seven grandchildren, Katy and husband Mike Carpenter, John, Asher, Lindsey Freese, Lesley and husband James Skinner, Logan and Lane Freese, two great-grandchildren, Landon and Ava Carpenter, brother, Ansil Kimmell and wife Opal, of Garber, OK; and sister in law, Joann Kimmell.
Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the Covington United Methodist Church or the Tri-County Senior Citizens with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
