Funeral services for Bessie Irene Franklin age 75 of Enid will be 2pm Friday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Kevin Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Bessie was born April 28, 1937 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Johnny and Ida Mae (Huey) Mangus and passed away Wednesday, September 05, 2012 at the Commons Methodist Nursing Home. She was raised in Fairview and Enid where she attended school and graduated from Enid High School in 1955.
She married Jack Franklin on May 24, 1956 in Enid. They moved to Enid in 1972 from San Antonio, TX. Bessie worked as a bookkeeper for Ernies Trading Post for 15 years.
Bessie attended Central Assembly of God Church.
Bessie is survived by her husband Jack of the home, two sons Jerry Franklin of Enid and Jeff Franklin of Blanchard, OK, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren, her three sisters Carolyn Egelston of Enid, Laoma Barker of Edmond, and Leona Webster of Broken Arrow, OK, two brothers Archie Mangus of Norman and Dwayne Mangus of Moore, OK and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Orville and Lloyd and one sister Dorothy Osborn.
Memorial may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation- diabetes division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
