Douglas Flikeid

Celebration of life service for Douglas K. Flikeid age 73 of Enid will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Donald Heath officiating. Burial will follow in the Ames Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doug was born October 22, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN to Kenneth and Marian Dahl Flikeid and passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 in St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.

He was raised in Minneapolis where he graduated from Vocational High School in 1957. He attended college in Minneapolis and Richland College in Dallas. He was a design engineer. He entered the U.S. Army on January 26, 1962 serving as a Military Police until being honorably discharged on January 25, 1968.

Doug married Phyllis L. Hudson in 1962 and she passed away September 7, 1983. Doug worked for several engineering firms retiring from GEFCO. He married Colleen Bland on October 12, 1991 in Enid.

Doug and Colleen enjoyed attending lifelong learning of Enid and many Chautauqua events

Doug is survived by his wife Colleen of the home, two daughters Christine Heath and husband Michael of Austin, TX, Kendra Pinkley and husband Brian of Enid, five grandchildren Aaron, Mason, and Haley Heath, Savannah and Sawyer Pinkley, three sisters Phyllis Bruneau, Carol Kazmierski, and Lori Aamodt of Wisconsin.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Doug loved animals and therefore, memorials may be made to Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians of the funds.
