The funeral service for Robert M English, age 84 will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Sharon Kay Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Bob was born May 22, 1926 in Tonkawa, OK to James and Bertha (Moreland) English and died, Friday, August 20, 2010 in Enid. He attended Tonkawa schools and Enid schools and graduated from Kremlin High School in 1944.
He entered the US Navy and served during WW II.
He married Virginia Boese on September 2, 1950 in Enid, OK.
He attended Okmulgee Vo-Tech School for auto body work. He then worked for Burlington Northern – Santa Fe Railroad as a laborer, retiring after 33 years. He was a breeder of show pigeons and received several awards. Some of his best memories were playing softball and basketball in his earlier years.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home, son, Jim English and wife Goldie of North Enid; daughter, Shelly Gamble and husband Dan of Tulsa, OK; five grandsons: Michael, Keith and John English and Travis and Dallas Brewer; three step grandchildren: Curt, Scott and Dusty Gamble; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George English and three sisters, Betty Fox, Bonna McCandless and Pat Wyckoff.
Memorials may be made to the Chordoma Foundation with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be emailed to the family at ladusauevans@suddenlinkmail.com.
