Funeral services for James Robert “Hank” Ellis, age 71, of Enid, are 10:00 am, Monday, February 24, 2020 at Willow View United Methodist Church with Rev. Quinton Wray and Mr. Todd Gungoll officiating. The United States Marines will provide Military Honors at Calvary Catholic Cemetery with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 23rd.
Hank was born May 28, 1948 in Pasadena, California to Thurman and Pauline (Highfill) Ellis and passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He graduated from Jet High School, Northwestern State College Bachelor of Science, Oklahoma State University Master of Science in Environmental Management, Accredited Institution of Higher Education of the United States of America Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Engineering. He married Carolyn Hudnall on December 22, 1984 in Enid.
As a young man, Hank traveled around the world with his military family before settling in Jet, OK. He loved nature and was an avid hunter and dog handler and served as President of the Grand National Quail Club. He enjoyed many hobbies such as camping, boating, hunting, fishing, shooting, photography, woodworking, old cars, welding and building things from scratch. His most cherished memories were those hours spent with the grand kids at the Ranch, riding go carts, hunting for treasure, bottle feeding baby calves, feeding the chickens and enjoying farm life. The loves of his life were his wife and his dog!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Pauline Ellis; sister, Elinor Tyler and husband Al; and a nephew, Scott Calhoon. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home in Enid; three children, Nathan Ellis and wife Holly, of Enid; Tyler Ellis and wife Tanya, of Enid; step-son John Gau and wife Lisa, of Enid; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister Nancy Harris and husband Arlyn, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
